I love observing Zach in a relaxed state with that cute little half-grin coming back at me and filling my heart. But some days he has a hard time getting there. His limbs twitch and jerk from his undiagnosed neurological disorder. Some days he either can’t or doesn’t want to make eye contact, where others that is all he does.
To assist in making him more comfortable we try many things from gentle pressure massages using a magnesium based cream (buttermeuporganics.com) from a modern day apothecary using simple, pronounceable ingredients. Also on hand we have Ancient Minerals lotion, and their oil (ancient-minerals.com).
*make sure your loved one has no cuts. Magnesium Chloride is a salt and will stings sensitive, or broken skin.
You may choose another pure oil like coconut, shea, or tallow, etc without magnesium. However, I find a balm or lotion containing magnesium and lavender to be more therapeutic for Zach. It is like a two for one. The relaxation of lavender along with massage, with the epidermal absorption of the oil and magnesium. Finding companies that care and test for harmful substances is harder than it should be. You will find some I have researched in this article.
*Also, if you are hesitant like I am to try new things on your child, or client…try it yourself first.
Vitamin D is another go to for muscle support. Zach uses a liquid oil form. We purchase Thorne D + K2 (thorne.com).
Benefits of Thorne’s Vitamin D + K2:
Supports a healthy heart and blood circulation*
Promotes bone health and calcium absorption*
Benefits immune function*
The combination provides advanced bone health support*
If he is able, we may choose to wheel him outside into the sunshine when it is warm. He seems to relax and enjoy the powerful healing benefits of nature. We spread a blanket, or place him directly on the grass (we never use chemicals on our lawn) so he can ground and get a good dose of vitamins from the sunshine. This is inexpensive, actually it is free and very helpful. At the same time, we might give him other supports as such as Lemon Balm, and/or Ashwaganda (vemergy.com), or Mucuna (hawaiipharm.com) all in liquid form and all alcohol free. They are all pleasant tasting. They help him relax as well as relieve stress and anxiety. Yep. I’ve tried them and they worked so well…I use them regularly for myself, because life…
At times we need to use extra doses of CBD oil (https://www.angel.industries, 6000mg no flavor). I’ve tried many and this one works best for Zach. 1 or 2 extra dropper fulls every few hours not only helps with seizures, but also with relaxation .
*I’ve stated in previous articles, but it is worth a repeat, that we need to take a break to help reset receptors for this amazing herb. Too much of a good thing and all that, but once we give it a week break, or even three days after a few months of daily use, we notice a nice level up in efficacy.
